Light Up Our Boats & Docks '23

It was a dark - but not stormy - night. Congratulations to all participants. Your boats were visible and fun.


4th Annual Paddlepalooza

Thank you to all who paddled to the middle of the lake on a windy, chilly day.


9th Nori Grout Memorial Regatta

The 9th Nori Grout Regatta was held on August 13. Thank you to all who organized this tribute to Nori Grout, a great sailor and teacher of sailors.


Water Quality Report

Each summer, members of the Sylvia Lake Association take water samples to the lab to assure everyone that our lake water remains as clear and clean as we expect.


Boat Parade '23

With weather threatening and no "wranglers" or judges, one family stepped up (as far as we know) and paraded around the lake with a throwback to 1969.


41st Ferguson Fishing Derby

In 2023, the 41st Ferguson Family Fishing Derby will be the "Last Cast." For the past 40 years, Gale Ferguson and his sisters have organized the Charlie Ferguson Fishing Derby, in honor of their father.


Sun's out, ticks out.

Spring is here and temperatures are heating up. That means cases of tick-borne illnesses, particularly Lyme disease, are on the rise in the U.S. And the problem is only being exacerbated by prolonged warmer weather.


Empire State Mines Planning

On March 29, 2023, Empire State Mines /Titan made a public presentation at the Town of Fowler to update interested parties in their future plans.


DEC Stocks Sylvia

Spring 2023 Trout Stocking for St. Lawrence County. This is the anticipated number of yearling and older trout to be stocked into listed waters during spring 2023.


2023 DEC Burn Ban

March 16, 2023 to May 14, 2023. Open burning is the single greatest cause of wildfires in NYS. Since 2009, when the Spring burn ban started, wildfires have decreased by more than 40%.


Ice Out 2023

Sylvia Lakers have been keeping track of when the ice "goes out" since 1938. The website has tracked the seasonal event since its beginning in 2004. As in other years, now we wait...


Association Survey- Followup

In mid-October 2022, the Sylvia Lake Association Board sent out a “Milfoil Survey - Request for Input.” We have the results here.
