About The Website
This site is owned and operated by Shari Barnhart, a resident of Sylvia Lake's North Shore and in the winter, St. Petersburg, Florida. As a newly retired teacher in 2003, who just built a "retirement" house in Northern New York, I needed a project to keep my skills sharp and give me a way to learn more about my new community. The website began in November of 2003.
The website's purpose continues to be "to create an online community for summer and year-round residents of Sylvia Lake." In 2007, the Sprague sisters set up a Facebook Group. This provided a more immediate way for lakers to be in touch with one another and share photos and other Sylvia Lake information.
The website provides a forum and an archive for Sylvia Lake Association events and activities. I do receive a small stipend from the Association for domains and hosting expenses, etc. If you would like to make a contribution, I would be very grateful. PayPal allows you to contribute using a credit card. You do not have to create a PayPal account. (FYI: Only one person has ever contributed...)
The purpose of this website is to create and maintain an electronic community for those who live on Sylvia Lake, NY both during the summer, and year-round. Every effort will be made to be accurate and complete. Liability claims regarding damage caused by the use of any information provided, including any kind of information which is incomplete or incorrect, will therefore be rejected.
