8th Nori Grout Memorial Regatta

Though we had a good day with fair weather, lots of fun sailing, congenial competition, and a nice brisk breeze, the Regatta results are confusing at best.

Although he crossed the finish line first in his catamaran, Sandy Kraker refused to be considered the winner. (He won his class though! ;-)

Sailors were: Sandy Kraker, Greg Force, Laurie Harter, Tricia Garrett, and Emily Sprague. (All of us, old Sylvia Lake Sailing Club racers, and all but Tricia over the age of 60.) Commodore C. MacDonald Grout was a stickler for the rules, and DQ'd three of us. Greg was just across the start line when the race began; Laurie and Emily both hit the third buoy due to dangling lines, and so Tricia was the only clean winner.

Thanks go to Roxanne Tyler for her loan of the buoys and to both her and Stuart Force for helping organizer, Emily Grout Sprague set the course. The Committee Boat was captained by Phil Sprague, supported by Andrea Grout, John and Julia Wright, and Caroline Sprague (official photographer).
