Sadly, we've lost another of our Sylvia Lake elders. Dr. W. Barton (“Bart”) Van Slyke, 97, died peacefully at home in Watertown, NY on January 12, 2023.
He was born in Gouverneur, NY on August 16, 1925. Bart and Ann built their Sylvia Lake cottage in 1960 where family and friends have enjoyed many happy summer days. “Camp” was a place where Bart often displayed his prowess as a truly inventive handyman and a diving board backflip expert. Condolences to Bart's family and many friends. Read his wonderful obituary here.

Patricia M. Klock (West Shore) passed away on March 1, 2023, fifteen days short of her 96th birthday.
Pat met her husband of 68 years, John P. Klock, at the Sylvia Lake roller skating rink, adjacent to the Sylvia Lake Hotel. Sylvia Lake was always a big part of their lives. Along with John, their family, and friends, Pat enjoyed many summers at Sylvia. Pat was a stained glass and ceramics artist and she loved to draw. She was also an accomplished bowler who also baked delicious cakes. The Sylvia Lake community sends condolences to Pat's family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at St. James Church, sometime in the Summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Sylvia Lake Association for its efforts to remove invasive milfoil.
